Dear Visitor,We are only screening one film in October as we have live theatre at the village hall later in October, but what a good film!On Friday 6th October we are screening BARBIE! Written and directed by Greta Gerwig. Barbie is a clever, funny and poignant film for young and old to enjoy. A visually dazzling comedy whose self referential jokes are smartly complemented by subversive storytelling. A world of girl power with President Barbie, Doctor Barbie, Journalist Barbie, and even a Weird Barbie (with a messy haircut and paint all over her face, she looks like the kind of Barbie a toddler might have gotten their hands on, the product of being "played with too hard"). Find your inner Barbie or Ken and come and enjoy it with us. To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in a perfect place (unless you are Ken) or unless you suffer a crisis that leads Barbie to question her world and her existence. With her home world in peril Barbie gets a chance to go to the real world, she soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans, but returns with the knowledge that what makes her different also makes her stronger. With the fabulous Will Ferrell as Mattel CEO, Margot Robie (as stereotypical Barbie) and Ryan Gosling (as Ken - the appendage without an appendage). Narrated by Helen Mirren. The Village Hall is delighted to have been chosen as a venue by Guildford Shakespeare Company for it's live rural theatre tour of MACBETH on Friday 27th October - an abridged version of the play over 90 minutes with no interval other than short interval before a Q&A session with the actors. A fabulous opportunity to experience live theatre at affordable prices. Macbeth is on the GCSE curriculum this year, so a great opportunity for all ages to attend. The cinema is helping the Village Hall with the marketing and selling of theatre tickets through the cinema website. Cinema volunteers will also be on hand to man the bar, refreshments and box office. Some EARLYBIRD TICKETS are still available at £12 for adults and £5 for teenagers. So book online now to avoid disappointment!
November we are back with two films - GOLDA on Friday 3rd November and the much awaited MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE DEAD RECKONING PART ONE on Friday 17th November. Tickets for Golda will be on sale from Saturday 7th October.
The cinema is run by volunteers with all profits going to improvements at Chiddingfold Village Hall Charity. We look forward to seeing you soon! |
