Musical biography of the self-proclaimed "inventor of show business", as the penniless Phineas Taylor Barnum gambles, innovates, charms and exploits his way to the (big) top, creating the most famous circus show in the world. Next Month

We move into the Oscar winners in June, with both the Best Actress and Actor winners following close together. We begin with Frances McDormand's winning turn as an uncompromising mother determined to shame the local police (including Best Supporting Actor Sam Rockwell) into action in the scabrous comedy Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Winner of the Academy Awards for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor, and nominated for five others. Convinced the local police have failed adequately to investigate the unsolved murder of her daughter, Mildred Hayes starts a campaign to shame them into progress, including renting three large billboards outside the town to publicise her cause. Her uncompromising determination soon divides the locals, but Mildred proves it will take more than official disapproval to stop her.

Also in June comes Darkest Hour, with Oscar-winning Gary Oldman unrecognisable beneath Oscar-winning make-up as Winston Churchill, fighting on the beaches, on the landing grounds and around the Cabinet table to keep Britain in a seemingly hopeless war. I expect this one is bound to be popular, so don't delay.
