What's on in November & December

Chiddingfold Cinema & Village Hall

Dear Visitor,

What an incredibly busy November we are having.... we have already screened 'Hotel Mumbai' and on 10th November we had a charity screening of 'Two Men Went to War' with a fabulous turn-out of 131!

On Friday 15th November we are showing
YESTERDAY which is the latest romcom from Richard Curtis, it is a fanciful – and hilarious – homage to The Beatles.  With some great cameo appearances from Ed Sheeran, James Cordon,  Whispering Bob (Harris) and even John Lennon!  We are looking forward to it!

On Saturday 23rd November LIVE THEATRE returns to the village hall from BlackBox Theatre Company who came on tour to us last year with 'Bully Beef & Whizzbangs'.  This year they are performing a stunning new adaptation of John Buchan’s classic ripping yarn THE 39 STEPS:  Accused of a murder he didn’t commit, Richard Hannay is on the run. Following clues left to him in a little black book by a mysterious American gentleman, he must uncover the secrets of the 39 Steps, prove his innocence and save Britain from the forces of evil!!

And, if there weren’t enough twists in the tale, BlackBox present this story of daring do as a live radio drama.  It’s November 1962 and with just ten minutes to go before the show is broadcast live to the nation, half the cast haven’t turned up, there’s no one to do the sound effects and they’ve just run out of Bourbon biscuits!!  What could possibly go wrong?

To end the year our final film will be on Friday 6th December when we will be screening WILD ROSE a British musical drama film directed by Tom Harper and starring Jessie Buckley and Julie Walters.

WILD ROSE tells the complicated story of Rose-Lynn, a woman on a quest to become a country music star, while also grappling with the responsibilities of being recently released from prison and a young mother of two children.  She soon gets her chance when she travels to Nashville, Tennessee, on a life-changing journey to discover her true voice.

Funny, moving, brilliantly uplifting.  A feel good, crowd pleasing film with a star making performance by Jessie Buckley.
