HAPPY NEW YEAR!

January at Chiddingfold Cinema

Dear Visitor,

After a much needed break, we are raring to go with the return of some fabulous films in January and February.

This month we are screening films on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month, but will return to our usual 1st and 3rd Friday from February.

On Friday 10th January 2020 at 8pm (doors open 7.30pm) we will be throwing the clocks back to 1987 and 'dancing in the dark' for Blinded By The Light - When music fanatic Javed discovers the illustrious back catalogue of Bruce Springsteen (The Boss) his world is turned upside down; already a creative soul his passion for music and writing is set alight by the songs of the working-class poet, whose lyrics feel all too familiar to the aspirational teenager. Yearning to escape his rundown hometown and the rules of his traditional Pakistani household, Javed finds himself caught in between two worlds and must discover if he too is 'Born to Run'...

A crowd-pleaser which contorts the music of Bruce Springsteen into a coming-of-age narrative inspired by the life of Guardian journalist Sarfraz Manzoor. Starring Viveik Kalra, Rob Brydon, Hayley Atwell and Kulvinder Ghur.

On Friday 24th January at 8pm (doors open 7.30pm) we will be screening Mrs Lowry & Son - The story of beloved British artist L.S. Lowry (Timothy Spall) who lived all his life with his over-bearing mother Elizabeth (Vanessa Redgrave). Bed-ridden, cantankerous and bitter, Elizabeth actively tried to dissuade her bachelor son from pursuing his artistic ambitions, whilst never failing to voice her opinion at what a disappointment he was to her.  An essay on family, and life, by two of our greatest living actors. Vanessa Redgrave gives a shrewd and amusingly bleak performance here as Elizabeth Lowry.

Tickets £6 and £3 for under 15's.  Available in person cash only on the door and via Treacle's Tea Shop on The Green, or book online PayPal or Credit Card via PayPal screen (season ticket holders can also reserve their bookings online)
