Cinema & Live Theatre in October

Booking now!

Dear Visitor,

It was lovely to start to see people coming back to the cinema in September, and this month we have two great events for people to look forward to!

On Friday 15th October at the Cinema we have 2021 Oscar & BAFTA winning for Best Picture, Best Actress & Best Director film Nomadland -  Frances McDormand (Three Billboards..., Fargo, Promised Land etc) delivers a stunning performance as Fern, a widow and former substitute teacher in Empire, Nevada – a town wiped off the map by a factory closure – who is forced into piling some possessions into her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad.  On the way real life nomads Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells become Fern's mentors and comrades in her exploration through the vast landscape of the American West.
Book online or buy tickets cash on the door:    £6 or £3 for under 15's  - Certificate 12.
On Saturday 30th October we are thrilled to have live theatre back in the village hall, when BlackBox Theatre Company who brought us ‘The 39 Steps’ in 2019 and ‘Bully Beef & Whizbangs’ are returning to us as part of their tour of Mike Leigh’s  hilariously funny and iconic 1970’s play ‘Abigail’s Party’.

Aspirational Beverly and her put upon husband Laurence are hosting a drinks party for new neighbours, Angela and Tony, together with mild mannered divorcee, Sue, who’s daughter, Abigail, is having her fifteenth birthday party a few doors away.  As the gin and tonics flow our hostess becomes becomes more and more monstrous, small talk turns to outrageous flirting, marital discord escalates and the thin veneer of middle class respectability begins to peel away.
This iconic suburban comedy is as relevant and grotesquely funny today as it has always been.  Full of wicked one-liners and 70s nostalgia and as familiar as a cheese and pineapple hedgehog, Abigail’s Party is an absolute joy and has become a firm favourite with audiences of all ages.
