Saturday 30th October - Abigail's Party

Blackbox Theatre Co live at the Village Hall

Dear Visitor,

Nothing planned for this Saturday?  Looking for a fabulous night of entertainment and laughs? Tickets are still available via ourselves, ticketsource and in person at Elliott's Coffee Shop on the village green and on the door for the much awaited tour of Mike Leigh's fabulous play Abigail's Party by our friends Blackbox Theatre Co.

As well as supporting a fabulous theatre company who tour with us every year, you will also be supporting the village hall and having a great evening too.  The Village Hall is Covid Secure and there will be ample chairs to allow for socially distanced seating.  Licensed bar, tea/coffee/cakes and of course ice cream in the interval.

Tickets from £11.50 to £40.00 for a family ticket.

"It was a joy, a wonderful evening of entertainment and a brilliant performance by a superb cast. Highly recommended. If you get the chance, don't miss it"

For those that do not know this play (google Alison Steadman’s stellar performance as Beverly back in the 1970’s… we are not worthy), a precis of the play:

Aspirational Beverly and her put upon husband Laurence are hosting a drinks party for new neighbours, Angela and Tony, together with mild mannered divorcee, Sue, who’s daughter, Abigail, is having her fifteenth birthday party a few doors away.  As the gin and tonics flow our hostess becomes more and more monstrous, small talk turns to outrageous flirting, marital discord escalates and the thin veneer of middle class respectability begins to peel away.

This iconic suburban comedy is as relevant and grotesquely funny today as it has always been.  Full of wicked one-liners and 70s nostalgia and as familiar as a cheese and pineapple hedgehog, Abigail’s Party is an absolute joy and has become a firm favourite with audiences of all ages.

I and other cinema volunteers will be assisting the village hall with the box office and refreshments.  If you are able to come we would love to see you!
