		Dear Visitor, We are delighted to bring you a summer season of fabulous films. We are screening films monthly but are looking at screening through the summer international/ foreign language films in addition to our usual calendar. If you are interested in our program of foreign language films please register your interest by responding to this email. May 20th - BELFAST Oscar winning film for Best Screenplay 2022. Semi autobiographical, this poignant story of love, laughter and loss is based upon true events of Kenneth Branagh a young boy and his working class Belfast family experience the tumultuous late 1960s. The film stars Caitríona Balfe and Jamie Dornan as a young couple struggling to keep their family safe in 1960s Belfast amidst The Troubles, a decades-long period of violent unrest in Northern Ireland. Seen through the eyes of Buddy the 9 year old protagonist (Jude Hill) with Judi Dench and Ciarán Hinds as his grandparents. With the music of Van Morrison Belfast will leave you laughing and crying. Drama/Comedy-drama Cert. 12A June 17th - THE DUKE UK comedy drama in the vein of Ealing comedy based on real events when in 1961, Kempton Bunton (Jim Broadbent), a 60 year old taxi driver, steals Goya's portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London. Kempton sent ransom notes saying that he would return the painting on condition that the government invested more in care for the elderly -- he had long campaigned for pensioners to receive free television. What happened next became the stuff of legend. Only 50 years later did the full story emerge. Also starrring Helen Mirren, Heather Craney, James Wilby and Fionn Whitehead. Booking from 21st May. Biography/Comedy/Drama Cert. 12A Chiddingfold Village Hall is a Covid secure venue. The cinema has ample socially distanced seating. We would request that all attendees over the age of 11 wear a face covering other than when eating or drinking in your seat. Doors open at 7.30pm when there will be the licensed bar, tea, coffee, popcorn and sweets. During the interval refreshments will be available again along with ice-creams. The Chiddingfold Cinema is entirely run by volunteers with all profits going to the improvement of facilities at the Village Hall. We look forward to seeing you soon!
