Bouncers - 8th July 2022

Live comedy theatre at the Village Hall

Dear Visitor,

This is a reminder that Blackbox Theatre Company are back touring with us at the Village Hall live with John Godber's iconic 1980's comedy play Bouncers on Friday 8th July 7.30pm - 10.30pm (doors open 7pm).

We are lucky to have Blackbox Theatre Company tour with us each year.  The last few years have been difficult for the Arts, so we do ask that you support Blackbox Theatre company and have a fantastic night out with us.  In order to just pay the actors they need to sell at least 45 tickets and at this time of writing 25 tickets have been sold.  So please book your tickets now as we would hate for the play to be cancelled with us.

Bouncers is one of the most widely produced plays in the world and, in 2000, was voted one of the top 100 plays of the 20th Century in a poll conducted by the National Theatre.

All parts are played by the same four characters - the bouncers 'Lucky Eric', Les, Judd and Ralph. Who become 4 girls out celebrating a birthday, and 4 lads on a night out amongst other characters.

Bouncers tells the story of a northern nightclub, and all the extraordinary characters that frequent its dance floor, through the eyes of its eponymous heroes.

So, if you danced at the Palais in the fifties, twisted the night away in the 60s, strutted your funky stuff in the seventies, moonwalked your way through the eighties or had it large in a field in the nineties, we're sure you'll love this fast paced homage to a Friday night out.

What our audiences are saying ….

“Amazing. I haven’t laughed so much in ages.” Claire S

“You guys are fabulous. Loved it!” Vicki J

“It took me right back. Brilliant” GH

“One of the best things I’ve seen. Not to be missed” RMcC

'... it's electric - dancing with energy, vibe and pathos ... a swirl of fast paced interchange and characterisation. [the actors] are firebrands of physical energy, timing and bite. It knows what it's doing and does it gloriously' … Scene One +

*Age recommendation 13+.  There are some adult themes and some very moderate bad language.
